Character Name: Dick Grayson
Character Age: mid twenties
Canon: Titans
Canon Point: End of S2E01
History/World: wiki link!
Personality: Dick can kick anyone’s ass, and he hates this about himself. He was trained by Batman, given the tools to focus his rage and the pain he felt at his parents’ death into fighting crime, and so he became Robin, boy vigilante. He was violent and brutal, just like Batman. When he let the man who murdered his parents die, he realized just how far he’d gone and he quit. He still wrestles with the violence and darkness inside him. He isn’t Robin anymore. But he’s not sure what he is.
Dick spent a long time blaming Bruce. By now, he’s realized that a lot of his anger was misplaced, directed at Bruce because there was no one else he could take it out on, but there’s still a lot of pain and a lot of history. He’s at the point where he’s comfortable calling Bruce and asking for advice, which is a big improvement.
Much like Bruce, Dick has a tendency to pick up strays. He might be brutal when it comes to fighting, but when it comes to the people he cares about, he just wants them all to be okay. That extends very quickly to people he doesn’t know when he can tell they’re in trouble or need a place to go. He knows what it’s like to feel that alone. He doesn’t want it to happen to others.
Dick especially cares about Donna, Wonder Girl, who he’s known since they were both kid sidekicks. She’s his best friend, a sister in all but blood, and they understand each other better than anyone else does. She can call him on his crap, and he, much more rarely, calls her on hers. Their lives may have gone in different directions, but they can always pick up right where they left off.
Dick is good at interacting with his team. They’re his friends. He can let his sense of humor, such as it is, come out, and while he still has that edge of angst and darkness, he’s a lot lighter around them. Sometimes he can be, well, a dick, but in a way that comes off more funny than actually cruel. He’s hard on the kids he’s training, but it’s always, always because he wants to be sure they come back alive. If he’s going to make them into weapons, they damn well better be good ones.
Dick is not good at interacting with the general public. While with friends, he can be smooth and funny, with strangers, or people he’s meant to make smalltalk with, he turns into an alien that has has only the vaguest idea of how humans interact with each other. He tends to babble and be a little too aggressive. He hides away such a big part of himself that it’s hard to know what to talk about and he overcompensates.
Overall, Dick is a work in progress, and he’s getting better at accepting that. He doesn’t have a codename anymore. He’s not Robin, but he’s not out of the superhero game. He’s brutally effective when he fights, but he’s extremely caring with his friends and anyone who needs him. Dick’s a good guy, and he wants to improve the world. He’s just still working out how exactly he can best do that.
Items: Dick is wearing nice but casual clothes. In his pockets, there’s a set of keys, a phone, a wallet, and some of his more transportable gadgets: a few trackers, a collapsible metal staff, and some smoke bombs.
Powers/skills: Dick has no special powers, but he has tons of skills. He was trained by Batman and has the Batman ability to kick anyone’s ass extremely efficiently. He’s got lock picking and detective skills too. Thanks to his childhood at the circus, he’s a fantastic acrobat and trapezist.
